Video card DVI and S-video?

I have a video card (on a new, unused, computer) that has DVI and S-video output.

I intend to use a DVI to HMDI cable to a TV.

Would it be better to have a second video card for the computer monitor or use the S-video (which would mean that I have to get a new monitor with S-video)
