most people are lured to violent games because it has a certain appeal to them, and it's allowing the player to do what he/she can't do in real life.

yes I do. you play violent games, and sometimes feel bad for killing innocents, and perhaps have a bad dream or two, and think about the negative sides to things and situations.

I'd probably state my opinion on why children shouldn't play violent games

dirty vocabulary, negative thinking, violent behavior, the list is practically endless

well, most people have the intellect and common sense to know that the events are fake, mostly illegal, and they know not to let video games control their minds, whilst others who couldn't care less of the consequences go free in the streets and kill randomly, and go on a rampage.

for example, the GTA franchise and The Getaway, yes indeed.

To answer the original question, violent video games have had the tendency to "posess" the minds of the youth. Parents nowadays are apathetic to what their children play, while others care, and the children are frustrated that they can't have a go at it. Parents don't understand that allowing their children to play violent video games like the Grand Theft Auto series, The Getaway, The Godfather, Scarface, etc., leads to poor and somewhat violent behavior in the real world.

If you take notice, children nowadays exhibit violent behavior due to said video games. Playing violent video games will lead to future violence, and will shove children into wanting to try what they've seen/played in the real world, such as toting guns to school, beating people up, and sometimes, sexual harrassment.

Video games have become too violent for children to play, but please take note: They do rate video games for reasons. It isn't rated M for Mature for 7 year old children to play 24/7.

And the irony in this response is that it is coming from a 14 year old =] .

For some kids it might make them more aggressive. But others might use the game to take OUT aggression. Some of these games are arguable educational, the way you have to use strategy and team work. And it keeps them inside away from the wrong crowd. I think they do more good than harm overall.
